  • Global Fund Advocates, Monitoring, evaluation and learning capacity support, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, 2018. Providing organisational support to BMGF grantees to strengthen MLE skills and systems, in association with Itad.
  • Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), Foundation Stage Evaluation, 2018. Theory of Change lead. Facilitating the design and development of the theory-based evaluation for GCRF, a £1.5 billion fund created by the UK Government in late 2015 to support cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries, read about GCRF here. In association with Itad.
  • Building Capacity to Use Research Evidence Evaluation, DFID, 2014-18: Team leader. The final report from the BCURE evaluation is now available here, with lessons on strengthening capacities to use evidence in policymaking in government from a three-year realist evaluation in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa and Sierra Leone.     Working with governments to promote evidence use requires a politically informed and multidimensional approach – skills and systems should be viewed as just one element of a tapestry of factors that block or disincentivise evidence-informed policymaking. Read more.

  • Humanitarian Innovation and Evidence Programme Evaluation, DFID, 2013-18: Evaluator Innovation Theme. Five-year evaluation to evaluate the impact of this £43 million research and innovation programme on international humanitarian practice. In association with Itad.   • AgriFoSe2030 (Agriculture for Food Security 2030), 2018. Trainer on theory of change and research uptake, providing training to scientists from Africa and Asia for policy influencing and communication of scientific knowledge to support the transformation of smallholder agriculture in low-income countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South and Southeast Asia.
